I thought it was a very good introduction to oils. Whilst we didn't spend a lot of time attempting to paint a piece in the medium, we were given a solid introduction to the mechanics of use (e.g., how to mix colour, how to apportion thinners, how to clean etc.,). This for me was particularly important.
Very good tutor, relaxed environment and excellent model. Only criticism was cold venue and would have been good to have a few easels available.
It was a really enjoyable and the overall session went well. Any suggestions I make are only for improvement- I would honestly go back and the session did inspire me to tackle more.

The event was good

I'm new to oils and painting, I would say my style would be fine art and surrealism, no rules and I can escape, experiment and have fun. I painted this scene as I'd came across a beautiful photo of calla Lilly valley in California, I use the idea but made it my ownwith the colours and changed parts of it, I like the perspective and the enchanting mysterious vibe it gave. Returned to art almost a year ago, still finding my way, but determined, excited and fully motivated to reach my potential,

Crows and Ravens are my favourite birds, and I often work with their energy in my healing work as well as putting them in my art. I wanted to create a piece using my favourite colour palette of blues and teals. This gorgeous bird appeared on the canvas, and he has a twinkle in his eye and sass - just like the crow who comes to visit my studio from time to time. I've called him the Wing Leader as a nod to some of my favourite fantasy books by Sarah J Maas and also because he looks like the leader

Together Forever. The story behind this family portrait is quite sad. My friend Iris Costanilla commissioned me to paint a portrait of her family of 4. The sad part is, they never had a photograph of the 4 of them together. Her husband Bruce had frequently been away from home since he was a US citizen and was required to do so. While in the US, Bruce was diagnosed as being terminally ill with cancer and was unable to return to his family in the Philippines. After his death, Iris gave me a pho

An experiment using soft pastels on stretched canvas. The texture of the canvas lent itself to the pastels quite well. The image is based on a photo taken by a friend visiting Venice, Italy. By using more vibrant colors than the original, I believe it became more magical.

After taking up mandala painting in my late 60's during lockdown I decided to experiment using fabric scraps withing the design. This is the result of my first try. I am going to expand on this idea in the near future once I obtain more fabric scraps.

I was at The Starfish Restaurant when I captured this view on a cold day in Bradenton Florida from the dock behind the restaurant. I was fascinated by the light coming from one of the boats and the gas pump. The photograph helped me to produce this oil painting when I got home in Ohio.
