Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.

In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

It was a great experience. I was nervous because I have no experience, but Helen made sure that we were comfortable and I feel excited to continue trying the methods that I learned.

I really enjoyed the class. Honestly I was a bit nervous, it was the first time for me. Even if I've been sketching for years I decided to join the beginner class. A very friendly environment, lovely teacher and students. I'd like to join other classes.

I?m had a pleasant morning with a lovely group of fellow sketchers. Helen was supportive and helpful. I?m glad it wasn?t outside though and I certainly wouldn?t book an outdoor class unless it was landscape in Northern Ireland?s changeable climate!

I thought it was a very good introduction to oils. Whilst we didn't spend a lot of time attempting to paint a piece in the medium, we were given a solid introduction to the mechanics of use (e.g., how to mix colour, how to apportion thinners, how to clean etc.,). This for me was particularly important.

Title or Location: Summer
This painting was done from a photo I took near the end of summer in Bangor. I was attracted by the combination of colours of the pink hydrangeas and the bright yellow Black- eyed Susan?s and I wanted to remember the feeling of summer and the bright colours. After painting the image, I found that the painting just wasn?t working and I felt that I needed another colour. I used my artistic license and changed some of the pink hydrangeas to the blue, which worked much better for the painting. E

This image was hand drawn and oil painted on a 12x16 canvas sheet. It is in memory of a baby Squirrel that myself and my teenage daughter raised years ago. We called him Icarus.I was Veterinarian Technician at the time and my daughter actually grew up to be a Veterinarian. Such laughs we had with that baby Squirrel!
